I’m having flash backs. It seems not that long ago I was busy designing this baby shower invitation for an Alice in Wonderland inspired tea party honoring my best friend. This week they welcomed their little girl into the world and a magical adventure of another kind began.
Mumma-to-be already knew she would be having a girl so it was pink all the way with this baby shower which was organised and styled by her talented sister. The masterpiece of the shower was this fabulous table spread.
The vintage inspired tea set, cake stands and cutlery were hired from Antiquetea and we were treated to a sumptuous selection of sandwiches, scones & cakes accompanied by never ending pots of tea. Everyone wore their favorite hat for the party which added a little “madness” to the tea party.
Baby shower games included match the baby photo to the guest and baby trivia (where I learnt that the most number of babies born to one woman is 69?!). Those who were lucky enough to win scored these fun Alice in Wonderland magnets and this story book ring.
I hadn’t heard of the next game until this shower but I think its a great way to get the Dad to be involved in the day. Its called “Daddy Knows Best”. Pre-Baby Shower the dad-to-be has been asked a series of questions about raising children. At the shower Mum is asked to guess what his responses were. Honestly prior to having children myself I would have struggled with questions like:
How many hours does a baby sleep each day?
How many nappies does a newborn go through each day?
At what age does a baby start eating solid food?
The day concluded in true Alice style with a game of croquet. Check out the giant playing cards.
The Alice in Wonderland theme was such a fun twist on a classic tea party and it made for a very memorable baby shower.
